 FINANCIAL MINISTER TO NEW GRADUATES. “START YOUR OWN BUSINESS” – GOVERNMENT'S PAYROLL IS FULL



The Finance Minister, Hon. Kennedy Ofori-Atta has said that it is better for fresh graduates to venture into entrepreneurship as the payroll by the government is full. And can't absorb any fresh graduate from the various institutions in the country.

Speaking in a graduate conference organized by University of Professional studies in Accra, the finance minister urged fresh graduates to stop hoping to get employment from government institutions, he encourage fresh graduates with the hope of getting employment from the government to create their own ways and means to make a living.


“The future for you in regard to jobs is the most important thing for you at this stage, and we have gone through a period when most people look for a job from government or state institutions; but that payroll is full.”–Hon. Kennedy Ofori-Atta


“I can tell you that because we are spending about 60 percent of our revenue on renumerating some 650,000 people, and that is not sustainable,” he said.


He also indicated that entrepreneurship, skillset and credibility are vital things in sustaining the youth to create something for themselves in other to make wealth which may help them make a living.

The minister added that education is a ladder to social mobility as well as economic and social prosperity which enables the beneficiaries to help society. TVs and Audio Category Therefore it is important for the graduates to acknowledge the privilege of accessing four years of tertiary education and do their best to impact society through the transformation and renewal of their minds.
