Jean-Pierre Adams dies at age 73 after 39 years in coma.

Adams was born and raised in Dakar, Senegal but at 10 years old some French couple adopted him.

He played for Nimes, Nice, Paris Saint-Germain and the France national team as a defender.

Nimes tweets "We learned this morning of the death of Jean-Pierre Adam's"

 PSG also tweeted a tribute to "one of its glorious old players," saluting his "joie de vivre" and charisma.

 Nice tweeted their condolences and also said that the club would pay homage to him before their home match with Monaco.

He was hospitalized after a knee surgery in 1982 at the Édouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon. The anesthesiologist made an error during the surgery which starved his brain of oxygen and put him into coma.

In 2016 his wife, Bernadette told the BBC that despite the sentences handed to her husband by anaesthetist and the trainee, the hospital in Lyon had never apologized, she cared for him for the remainder of his life.
