The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has reiterated that government is committed to making education better in the country.
In his address, the Vice President stressed that government will not leave out the education sector in its drive to digitize all sectors of the economy
Delivering a public lecture on digital economy on Tuesday, November 2 at Ashesi University, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said government has provided 350,000 teachers with laptops.
According to him, this will halt the writing of lesson notes into notebooks because the laptops have all the curriculum materials installed.
"We have also provided 350,000 teachers with laptops under the One Teacher One Laptop Policy. So for teachers, the writing of lesson notes into notebooks is over because the curriculum materials are already installed on the laptops,".
He also hinted of an initiative aimed at providing tablets for SHS students.
"Our next goal ladies and gentlemen is to provide tablets to high school students and we have started working with publishers and the idea is to pre load all the tablets that we will provide the students with all the required textbooks so that we don't have to keep buying textbooks and they can have them digitally available on their tablets for learning," the Vice President stated.
