GNAT PRESIDENT; USE THE APPROVED CHANNELS TO SEEK FOR PROMOTION/UPGRADING, FURTHER STUDIES AND OTHER ISSUES.
Dr. Isaac Owusu, current national president of the Ghana National Association of Teachers had advice all GNAT members across the country.
The president reiterated the fact that teachers had to play their part by abiding by the code of ethics and their part of the collective agreement. He frown upon acts that go contrary to rules of engagement such as sexual misconduct and absenteeism. He was confident that most Judges who sit on sexual misconduct cases brought against teachers usually go for the Maximum Sentence when found guilty, because the judegs see teachers to be the agents of moral up-bring of citizens.
Dr. Isaac Owusu advised teachers to use the approved channels to seek for further studies, upgrading/promotion and other issues. He explained that when members use unapproved means to get their documents through, it becomes difficult for leadership to defend them when they are caught.
The President acknowledged that more needs to be done on the part of leadership, he encouraged members to remain resolute and United as one to be able to fight for a common course.
