There are a lot of social media comments and post about the "ONE TEACHER ONE LAPTOP" initiative for Ghanaian teachers. Is the TM1 laptops really up to the standard or is just another way for the Government or the Teachers Unions to MILK teachers who "can never become millions"?

It has become very important and necessary for teachers of the nation to at come up with a data to back their argument. Therefore we have consulted some IT personally in the teaching fraternity to help us conduct a live survey that gives an instant results , which will help us get concrete evidence to support any argument that will pop up as time goes by.

We can see that so many teacher may be interested in the laptop but others may not be interested in the laptop. There are so many good reasons that some teachers may have to either reject or accept this laptop. We therefore recall on all the teachers to participate in this online survey to ascertain whether the laptop should be taken in good faith or the laptop be rejected.

There have been some resent hullabaloos between the various teacher Unions in the country.

GHANA NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF TEACHERS

The Central Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Rev. Dr. Isaac Owusu "Teachers' Mate One (TM1) Laptop procured for teachers costs Ghc1,550. My investigations as the GNAT Chairman of Central Region shows that the actual unit cost of the laptop is Ghc1,550"

COALITION OF CONCERN TEACHERS CCT

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF GRADUATE TEACHERS

INNOVATIVE TEACHERS &

ALL TEACHERS ALLIANCE GHANA

From the above we could see that even our union leaders have been divided by the introduction of this initiative. It is very obvious that not all teachers dislike this laptops definitely some teachers will like to make good use of a laptop during a lesson.

Ghana Education Service confirming the new price of the much talk about “TM1 LAPTOP”

We had an opportunity to speak with some of the Union leaders and we can say on authority that some of them are not interested in the laptop whilst some of them are convincing us to purchase the laptops. We all remember the actual price they quoted at first right? But now what do hear? A sudden increase in the price and even the specifications. How possible could this be in this era of modern teachers?

NAGRAT came and gave a different amount of money concerning this laptop. Do remember what the communication director of CCT said during a TV shows?

"if you don't like the laptop you can leave the Service"

CCT later brought an apology letter to condemned the above statement but also try to convince teachers to accept the laptops in the letter below.

Some teachers will definitely need a laptop but they also have a question about Brand and the specifications of the laptop. They call on the Teacher Unions and the government to either get them a quality one or stop the distribution of the TM1 laptops. Some prominent people have done a lot of research and have come out to their findings that the actual price of the laptop on the market should not even cost up to GH₵500.

We therefore call on all teachers to participate in this survey to help us get a views of all teachers in Ghana and we can use this data to buttress the "ONE TEACHER ONE LAPTOP" initiative.
